Blue Ridge Mountain retreat

PROJECT SUMMARY

With their brood of four young boys, our clients’ knew their family retreat in Banner Elk needed an upgrade to meet a litany of needs—lodge the crew and buddies for ski weekends, offer a calm getaway for mom on a girls’ trip, plus have room for both parents to work remotely during extended summer stays.

  • Our mission was to redefine the heart of the home, focusing on public spaces from the front door to the rear. Breaking from their previous vibe, the homeowners sought a classic-leans-modern feel with muted tonalities—refined, understated, and layered with depth.

With color variation set aside, we delved into an interplay of texture, pattern, and form. Custom textiles pair intricate trims with animal motifs. A curved sofa is a sculptural anchor. Sheer draperies cast patterned shadows that dance across the room. And monochromatic artwork introduces an abstract edge. All combined, the design is rich with visual discovery—a testament to the power of nuance.

Despite our name, we know that a hue is more than a color; it’s a mood, a story, an essence. In this project, we embraced the beauty of tonal restraint, crafting a home that speaks softly but resonates deeply.
